French Toast (Hawaiian Rolls)
French Toast meets Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for the ultimate sweet breakfast combo your tastebuds have ever been introduced to. It takes about 30 minutes to make and it’s both crispy and soft and fluffy and guaranteed everyone will love! Finish it off with powdered sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup and Sunday brunch will never be the same again.
1 pkg Sweet Hawaiian Rolls (12 rolls)
¾ cup half and half
3-4 large eggs
1 Tbsp. light brown sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ cup unsalted butter
To Serve:
confectioners' sugar
pure maple syrup
berries
whipped cream
To a bowl, make the custard for dipping the bread in. Combine half and half, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Whisk really well until completely smooth and homogenous.
Heat a large pan over medium-low heat. Add a little bit of butter. If the pan is too hot, the butter will burn so make sure it's not too high.
Dip each Hawaiian Roll in the custard quickly and place on the pan. Repeat with a few more until the pan is full but not crowded.
Cook for about 2 minutes, then turn each one over and repeat so every side of the roll gets golden brown and crispy. Take off the pan and repeat with the rest of the Hawaiian Rolls.
Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and drizzle maple syrup on top. Optionally, serve with berries and whipped cream.
