Pita Chips
You only need 3 ingredients to make pita chips at home. These delicious pita wedges are great for dipping hummus, tzatziki, guacamole or served on their own. They can also be used in your salad instead of croutons.
4 pita breads
3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
sea salt
Preheat an oven to 400°F (200°C/180°C fan, Gas Mark 6). Line a large baking sheet with a Silpat baking mat or parchment paper. Set aside.
With a knife, cut each pita into 8 triangles and arrange evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the pita triangles with olive oil. Flip them over and brush the other side with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until crispy and browned. Cool completely. Serve with your favourite dips or eat them plain.
Cook's Notes:
- To store, make sure the pita chips are completely cooled. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days and up to 1 week in the refrigerator.
- If the pita bread is thick, you may want to cut them in half before making the triangles.
- Feel free to add any herbs or seasonings with the salt before baking.
- If you're using thin pitas, they will bake more quickly while thicker pitas will take a bit longer. It's important to watch for them carefully.
