Baked Bananas
The ingredients and flavours in this dish can be adjusted to suit your own personal taste. Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
3 Tbsp. dark-brown sugar
4 firm bananas
4 cardamom pods, seeds removed and crushed (about ¼ tsp.)
1 pinch coarse sea salt
1 lemon, freshly squeezed
To Serve:
vanilla ice cream or freshly whipped cream
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C). Butter a large shallow baking dish, and sprinkle with 1 Tbsp. sugar; set aside.
Peel, and cut bananas diagonally into ½" slices. Add bananas to prepared dish, and sprinkle with remaining 2 Tbsp. raw sugar, cardamom, and salt. Dot with butter. Drizzle with lemon juice, freshly squeezed.
Bake until bubbling, about 8 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
