Cajun Popcorn
Live your life with a little spice with Cajun popcorn. Bring in the heat. This popcorn is bursting with flavour. From thyme to garlic to paprika, every bite gives you different levels of deliciousness. The great thing about it is that you can adjust the amount of spice that goes into the popcorn, so feel free to experiment.
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. popcorn kernels
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
½ tsp. dried thyme
¾ tsp. hot sauce
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. paprika
¼ tsp. onion powder
Cook the popcorn as per package directions, or as follows: Add the oil to a large, 3 qt or larger pot over medium heat. Add the popcorn kernels and cover, with the lid ajar.
Shake the pot back and forth every few minutes. Remove from the heat when the popping has slowed and most kernels are popped, approximately 7 minutes. Set aside.
When ready to serve, add the remaining ingredients to the popped popcorn. Stir to coat. Add more moisture if needed to get everything to stick with either more hot sauce (if you want it spicier) or more oil. Serve immediately.
Cook's Notes:
- It is best to use a neutral oil with no flavour like vegetable or Canola oil.
- Make a large batch of the seasoning to have on hand.
