Brown Butter Sauce (Herbs)

½ tsp. dried basil
½ tsp. dried oregano
½ tsp. dried tosemary
½ tsp. dried thyme
½ tsp. black pepper, freshly cracked
2 sticks (½ cup) butter
2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp. onion, minced
1 Tbsp. garlic, minced

Combine basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme and black pepper in a mortar & pestle and grind until it is a fine powder. Next, lightly oil a small frying pan and add the garlic and onion, cook over med-low heat for about 4 minutes and then add the butter.

Let this cook for about 5-7 minutes until the butter browns.

Makes enough for 1 lb of pasta, 4 servings.
