Pan-Seared Pork Chops with Sweet and Sour Sauce
To create these delicious sweet and sour pork chops sear the tender meat and then whisk up a quick five-minute sauce to cook it in. This recipe is ideal for a quick and satisfying dinner. These sweet and sour pork chops are delicious and covered in a glaze made out of brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. In 30 minutes you can have a hearty meal on the table. This dish pairs well with fluffy white rice, buttery noodles or a seasonal vegetable.
6 (4 oz) pork loin chops, boneless
¾ tsp. black pepper, freshly ground
½ cup water
⅓ cup cider vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar, packed
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. water, cold
Sprinkle pork chops with pepper. In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook pork over medium heat until lightly browned, 4-6 minutes on each side. Remove and keep warm.
Add the water, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce to skillet; stir to loosen browned bits. Bring to a boil. Combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; stir into skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 2 minutes.
Return chops to the pan. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until a thermometer inserted in pork reads 145°F, 4-5 minutes.
